I had such mixed feelings about this one as well! I loved the 90s references - YM magazine! - but feel like so many of them were probably lost on teen readers. Plus Emma drove me nuts with the way that she always thought other people were responsible for making her unhappy in the future. Helloooo - if you're always upset, the problem just might be you! Oh well... it wasn't a favorite but was still a fun read!

Lori - I'm exactly like you, lost interest several years ago, but I'm willing to give this one a chance because 1.) it's going to be about werewolves and 2.)I'm hoping she'll build a new world for it (not Lestat's & Mayfair witches world)and it will be fresh, you know? *crosses fingers*

I loved this book. I think you are right about the alternating viewpoints. It gave it much more depth. I really felt sympathy toward both girls, even when I felt they made poor decisions and I think knowing what was going on inside their respective heads made that possible.

I'm so on the fence about The Wolf Gift. I used to ADORE Anne Rice back in the day, but she lost me right around Memnoch and with the Angel books. Though I did enjoy Blackwood Farm. Well, I'll probably still check it out, despite her swearing she'd never write about werewolves.

THIS! This book was my favorite of 2011, and is definitely one of my fav YA reads of all time. I cannot wait to hear it on audio (I'm on hold for it @ my local library!)

I think Laini Taylor needs to write more....NOW! :)
