Our Top Ten(ish) Reads of 2010
What are our top reads of the year? We are all so different in what we like to read, we make a perfect team. However, when we had to make a list…well, we had to make some changes. We decided we can’t be defined by just ten books. We’re not conformists so we added one more. It is going to be 2011 after all.
So, now we present our TOP TEN, err…. TOP ELEVEN READS OF 2010:
Stay by Allie Larkin – This book made us laugh (how she got her dog!), cry, and we just couldn’t put the book down. We have been screaming Larkin’s praises ever since. Want a great Adult read, pick up STAY!
Our review can be found here and our interview with Allie here. For more information on the author and her books visit her site here.
If I Stay by Gayle Forman – We wished we had read this before we met Forman. We would have monopolized her whole time with questions about this beautifully written story. This book is amazing. It made us cry and filled us with so much hope. We can’t wait to read Where She Went. We are holding our breath. Well, sort of…
Our review can be found here and author and book information here.
Take Me There by Carolee Dean – A beautifully written book about harsh realities like gangs and death row weaved perfectly with a coming of age story. A definite must read. MUST. READ.

Compromised by Heidi Ayarbe – It’s one that had us thinking about it for months. We recommend it all the time when people want a more serious read. It’s a genuine eye opener for teens and adults. We love it and hate the situation at the same time. That is great writing! Look out for Compulsion next year.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver - The green eyes on the cover got us. We bought it, took it home, and it became one of our favorites. Who doesn’t love an ending that leaves you talking about it for days? Lauren Oliver is one of our new favorite authors. Watch out for the stellar Delirium coming out in 2011.

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater – Maggie wowed us with Shiver and blew us away with this one. She not only made us feel for Grace and Sam, but Isabelle and Cole as well.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins – The only book this year that made us cry, laugh, jump hysterically and cuss all within the first two chapters. Yes folks, it was that good.

White Cat by Holly Black – A totally different flavor of paranormal from the superb Holly Black. Hello – mobster curseworkers? Pure genius! Plus a great story with a twist at the end that really grabs you and makes you wish the sequel was here. Now. Today. Aaargh!

Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris - Charlaine, we love your supernatural world in Bon Temps, and we totally love Sookie too. Now if we could just get you to write a little faster and make sure Bill Eric Bill Eric okaaaay, Sam ends up with Sookie in the next book?

The Passage by Justin Cronin – We’re gonna call this one epic. It was Stephen King meets Ken Follett and they had an affair with Anne Rice good. We cannot wait for the sequel to come out! Plus, Justin Cronin is a fellow Texan – just sayin! For our review of click here, for more information about the book click here.

LOVED Body Finder. How did I forget about that book for my awards?? LOL. I really want to read Holly Black’s book. I’ve never read her and want to read Before I fall.
I still need to read most of these! Where did 2010 go?? I guess I will have to double my efforts in 2011
Kim Derting has become one of my favorite authors ever.
Linger and Mockingjay are both awesome and made me cry.
I have been meaning to pick up The Passage so that will be a goal for 2011. We must support our Texas authors
Also I have If I stay and Before I fall but haven’t gotten to them. Hopefully soon!
GREAT LIST!
