our totally fake super-human Graces

In the spirit of fun, and because we <3 the Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore  (and  apparently we’re book nerds with too much time on our hands) we give you our Grace. You know, what we wish our super-human ability that could never come true, but we want it anyway, Grace.

Come on, you know you thought about this too!

eyes: 1 brown, 1 blue – cuz I can’t stop singing, “Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue” by Crystal Gayle.

Grace: Hmmmm….my grace would be to have a photographic memory…I’ve always wanted to have a super sharp memory and remember all the book characters and events, great quotes etc. rather than always forgetting and being reduced to saying “that one guy” or “umm, she had this really great line about life and what it means…”.  So yup-photographic memory for me please.

——

eyes: 1 piercing green eye, 1 piercing blue eye – if I’m wishing, might as well go all ‘Damon eyes.’

Grace: This is hard, but after much thought and very thorough consideration I decided I needed a Grace that was useless. Yes, a useless Grace. I mean, everyone can aspire to have a kick-butt Grace that helps them dominate the world, but I want to be the one with the fancy pants party trick everyone talks about and wants to see.

So, my Grace is the freakish ability to memorize song lyrics after only hearing them once. Now as great as that sounds, there is more. Not only can I repeat them word for word in original order, I can also say them backwards in the correct key. Hoozah!

——

eyes: 1 pink, 1 purple – what can I say, I’m girlie like that.

Grace: I’m going all gangster with my Grace.  Well, a little gangster?  I’m a mom and small things that I didn’t use to care about now bug me, like eye rolls.  I would hope not to use my grace every day. You would think people would find the correlation between their eye rolls and the immediate flick to their head. But alas, anyone who rolls their eyes at me gets a swift flick to their head and I only have to be in a 50 foot radius of them. Good times. Good times. *watch out kids* *and teens*

Wait, is it too late for my grace to be bringing world peace? darn.

——

Eyes: 1 blue, 1 silver – this combo would make me feel all X-Men like.

Grace: As far as picking a Grace, that’s really easy for me!  I’d love to be able to speak any language (in the appropriate accent!) that has ever and will ever exist.  I think that would be an awesome Grace to have, very useful, and would keep you from looking like the clueless foreigner when you’re in a new place!

I do have Stacy’s grace. Whoops.

Let’s see. I’d have blue eye, grey eye… and… hmm… I’d love the ability to handle any weapon. Oooo. Or for all animals to trust me!

  2. Sarah says:

Ohhh Amanda-I love your idea-DUH! I totally want to be able to speak every language-travel would be much easier! Brilliant!

  3. Great post! I love all the graces you all chose too :) . I love to travel, so I love the idea of being able to speak any language WITH the correct accent.

  4. Amanda says:

Well, I certainly don’t feel like it was genius or anything, I had to really think about it! And then of course when it hit me I felt kind of silly for not realizing that would be awesome earlier ;)

  5. Amanda says:

Ooo, I like the “ability to handle any weapon”! You would be a sure thing on Hollywood movie sets!

  6. Miriam says:

I would have one eye bright blue and the other pale lavender. My grace would probably be being able to have other people’s graces just by meeting them.

Have something to add? (leave a reply)
