A Review in Three: Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth
Move over Edward, Bill and Eric there is a new vampire in town. His name is Cade, he’s a monster and he IS the President’s vampire.
Since we each read and met Christopher Farnsworth not to long ago we decided that we’d all write a small review and post them together. What you get is a “review in three.” I have no idea what that means, but there are three of us, three reviews and it sounded good at the time.

It’s a change, that’s for sure. Reading a book that both men and women will love for totally different reasons. Women will love it for the emotional back-story and underlying dedication the guys have for each other. Men will love it because the story is a solid thriller, there is lots of action, and people die.
I love three characters in this book; Cade who is stoic, honest, and just plain old hot, Zach who has a dry sense of humor to compliment the fact that he is an ass, and is plain old hot, and Griff who is witty, older, and has given his human life to serve the President and America.
Guys, I know what you are saying… “Why would I, a totally cool guy, want to read about some emotional hot guys? Is this the sequel to Twilight?” Pahsha! I have four words for you; 1. This 2. Book 3. Kicks 4. Ass!
Seriously, I am talking about a historical, political thriller with a vampire who can kill people and freaky stuff happens. Interested yet? You HAVE to be!! Totally have to be!
I give Blood Oath 4 STACKS and want a part in the movie!
Love, STACKGirl Shannan who really can act.

A masterly clever plot full of surprises! Farnsworth does an excellent job of crafting an intricate story chock full of action, adventure and humor.
There may be those that doubt that a book built on conspiracy theories and national secrets be credible with otherworldly aspects. Yet, simply put it is and it works. The “otherworldliness” adds to rather than distracts. At times while reading I found myself wondering if vampires and super Frankenstein’s really don’t exists. Hmmmm…
Cade is formidable with no chance of redemption, ever. His inner monster is only controlled by his blood oath and his last vestige of humanity. The US should be happy he is on our side. Seriously.
My two favorite characters from the book are Griff and Zach. Griff is an endearing character who served faithfully as the liaison between the president’s office and Cade for several years. He is dependable, honest and Cade’s only friend. Zach is the new guy, taking Griff’s place. He is the smart mouthed prick (just using Chris’s words here) that by the end has redeemed himself to be worthy as Cade’s assistant.
A definite MUST read!
I give this book 4.5 STACKS
STACKGirl Stacy – who doesn’t even judge Cade by his hotness. Wow, I’ve grown.

Okay girls, I finished this book and told my hubby, a dyed in the wool adventure and spy novel lover, that he would REALLY like this book (and he gave me his “is this going to be like the time you told me I had to read ‘Twilight’?” look.)
Not to beat a dead horse, but this book has definite guy appeal – no angsty-sparkly-emo vampires in sight. However, I have to mention that the women are just as ruthless and kick-a as the men. Tania is a female vampire from Cade’s past. Apparently she still has some feelings for him … let’s leave it at that. Helen Holt is a sociopathic woman who has a hankerin’ to be immortal. She works for “The Company” (think SPECTRE to James Bond) and is in league with Dr. Johann Konrad, the superbad villain.
And speaking of Konrad… wow! He’s one scary dude. He created the secret to eternal life (without vampirism) as well as the recipe for unstoppable zombies. He’s the original Dr. Frankenstein … literally.
Since you guys have already gushed over Cade, I won’t do it here but, gosh, he’s hot. See? It’s good for girls too.
I think that this book is the first in a fresh, exciting new series and I look forward to the next book.
STACKGirl Nancy, who thinks Christopher Farnsworth is super cool.
For fun (and because we can) we’re including the picture we had taken with Christopher Farnsworth. I think it is a great picture of all of us.
