from goodreads – Lenzi hears voices. She also sees visions–gravestones, floods, a gorgeous guy with steel gray eyes. She knows she must be going crazy, just like her dad did. Her boyfriend, Zak, can’t do anything to help, and the voices just keep getting louder, the visions more intense. But when Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, everything makes sense.
Sort of.
He tells Lenzi that she’s a reincarnated Speaker–someone who can talk to lost souls and help them move on–and that he has been her Protector for centuries. But instead of embracing her abilities, Lenzi struggles between her life as the girlfriend of a sexy musician and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. Yet time is running out; a malevolent spirit has been trying to destroy Lenzi for ages, and he will surely kill her if she doesn’t make a decision soon.
Her choices are clear: Destiny or normalcy. Alden or Zak. Life or death.
All me - Great cover, very lovely. Go flower petals. And it’s not black.
What a good debut novel! It is a well-written, great paced book that has plenty of adventure and perfect hint of romance.
As I read the last pages of this book I started to picture the perfect teen dramedy, “Ghost Whisperer, the YA version” (sorry, couldn’t think of a catchy title, I used all my witty last night on twitter). Really, I think this would make a great TV show and it would be like bringing the Creek back to Dawson, paranormal style.
Lenzi is your typical teenager, as in, she has her share of issues, has a troubled boyfriend and hears voices. Though she’s not happy about the voices (it causes quite the mess at school), she soon learns she is a speaker, one who intercedes for those trying to pass in the great white light. Not only does she see and hear dead people she gets a really hot protector, someone
who protects her from the spirits when things go wrong, which happens, a lot. While this may seem like a great gig, Lenzi just needs some time to wrap her head around this whole ‘I see dead
people stuff.’
I think this is a good, solid debut novel with likeable (though not always relatable) characters with a storyline that could span several sequels.
I give this book 4 STACKS
Stacy, who is pulling for a TV series!!

Looks and sounds fantastic. I’ve had this on my wishlist for awhile and am looking forward to picking up a copy when it releases.
